The cruises compared here
The two one-hour cruises in the Berlin catalogue look interchangeable. They cost almost the same, last the same time and board little more than 100 metres apart on Burgstraße, facing the cathedral and Museum Island.
They are run by different companies with different boats and very different booking terms. Those differences are what should settle it.
1The route is the same river
Both boats work the central Spree. The Alte Börse cruise goes east to the Mühlendamm lock, then west past Museum Island and Friedrichstraße to the Reichstag and the government district. Reederei Hadynski lists the cathedral, the TV Tower, the Nikolaiviertel, the Weidendamm Bridge, the Reichstag, the main station, the Moltke Bridge and the Chancellery.
You will not see anything on one that you miss on the other. Do not pay for both.
2The boats
Reederei Hadynski sails two boats, Carola and Franziska. Each has a panoramic glass roof that opens in summer and closes in cold or rain, a shade roof at the back and 120 cushioned seats. On a hot day the operator suggests arriving 25 minutes early if you want a seat in the shade.
The Alte Börse operator, BWSG, has one boat of each kind. MS Belvedere is a traditional two-deck ship with a sun deck on top and saloons below. AC BärLiner is a convertible with sliding glass panels. The listing does not say which you will board, so if an open top deck is what you picture, you cannot be sure of it in advance.
3Commentary and languages
For English and German speakers there is little between them. Both operators describe commentary in those two languages.
For everyone else the Alte Börse cruise is the better bet. The listing includes an audio guide in several languages on the one-hour tour, and the operator names Spanish, French, Polish, Hebrew, Italian and Russian. The Hadynski listing offers English only, and the operator's pages mention nothing beyond German and English.
4Refunds and reviews
This is the largest gap. The Alte Börse cruise can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before the start. The Hadynski cruise is non-refundable as soon as you book.
The evidence is uneven too. The Alte Börse cruise has a score of 7.5 from 227 reviews, which is modest but based on a real sample. The Hadynski cruise shows 8.4 from 10 reviews, too few to lean on. Both are listed as not wheelchair accessible.
5Timetable and winter
In season, Hadynski's timetable is denser: a boat every half hour from 11 am, with the last at 4 pm or 5 pm depending on the month. BWSG lists eight departures between 11:15 and 17:45.
After 1 November 2026 only one of them is sailing. BWSG's season ends that day. Hadynski's timetable continues to 31 December, with the last boat at 3:30 pm, and the closing roof makes a winter trip bearable. Check-in rules differ as well: 15 minutes ahead at Alte Börse to swap the voucher, 25 minutes ahead at Hadynski, where check-in closes 5 minutes before departure.
