The three boats on this page leave from three different parts of the river. Asiatique is at the southern end, Tha Tien is in the old town, and the tourist boat piers are strung out between them and beyond.

We only name a train station where an operator names it. For the rest, the vouchers carry map links, and those are more reliable than a pier name typed into a taxi app.

1Asiatique The Riverfront: the dinner cruise

The dinner cruise checks in at the White Orchid counter at Warehouse 3. The voucher shows a photo of the counter and gives a map link.

Be there 30 minutes before the sailing time. For the 5 pm cruise that means 4:30 pm, so leave early. Dress for the cruise before you set off: the voucher asks for smart-casual clothes.

2Sathorn Pier and the tourist boat stops

The tourist boat has no single departure point. The operator lists 11 piers and names Sathorn Pier first, next to BTS Saphan Taksin station (S6). That makes Sathorn the natural place to start if you are coming from the modern side of the city by Skytrain.

The other piers the operator names are ICONSIAM, Ratchawongse, Pakklong Taladd (Yodpiman), Wat Arun, Tha Tien, Tha Chang, Tha Maharaj, Prannok and Phra Arthit. Show the voucher on your phone at the boarding area. There is no need to print it.

Boats come about every 30 minutes between 8:30 am and 7:15 pm. The listing suggests searching for Blue Flag in Google Maps to see the route, and links to a map of the stops.

3Tha Tien Pier: the canal tour

The long-tail tour meets at Tha Tien Pier, across from Wat Pho, and the listing recommends arriving 15 minutes early. Look for the guide in a blue shirt with the WanderSiam logo.

Tha Tien is also on the tourist boat's list of piers, but the tourist boat listing says that stop is closed for renovations. The canal tour still gives Tha Tien as its meeting point. Use the map link in the canal tour voucher to find the exact spot, and do not rely on reaching it by tourist boat.

4ICONSIAM and River City

ICONSIAM is a stop on the tourist boat route, so you can start or end your day pass there. None of the three listings boards at River City.

Other sellers list dinner cruises from ICONSIAM, which is where confusion starts. If your booking is the Civitatis dinner cruise, your pier is Asiatique and nowhere else. Read the voucher, not the name on the nearest boat.

5What goes wrong

The most likely mistake is trying to use the tourist boat voucher at Asiatique. It is the one pier where it is not accepted, even though the operator says its evening route extends there.

The second is cutting it fine at Asiatique. The dinner cruise will not refund a no-show, and free cancellation ends 24 hours before. The third is arriving at Tha Tien expecting a ticket office: the canal tour has a guide waiting at a meeting point, not a kiosk.

Quick questions

Where does the Bangkok dinner cruise leave from?

From Asiatique The Riverfront. Check in at the White Orchid counter at Warehouse 3, 30 minutes before the sailing time.

Which pier is best for the hop-on hop-off tourist boat?

Any pier on the route works except Asiatique. The operator places Sathorn Pier at BTS Saphan Taksin (S6), which makes it the simplest to reach by Skytrain.

Is Tha Tien Pier open?

The tourist boat listing says its Tha Tien stop is closed for renovations. The canal tour still meets at Tha Tien Pier, at the point shown in its voucher.

Do I need to print my ticket?

The tourist boat voucher says printing is not necessary. The other two vouchers do not ask for a printed copy.
