All the boarding points are on the same bank, the old-town side, strung along the riverside promenade south of the Torre del Oro. They are close enough to confuse and far enough apart to miss a boat over.

None of the operators we checked names a metro or tram stop on its cruise page, so we do not either. Distances below are worked out from the coordinates on the listings.

1Torre del Oro pier: the one-hour cruise

Cruceros Torre del Oro boards from the pier in front of the tower, on Paseo Alcalde Marqués del Contadero. It is the only boat on this page that uses it.

Go to the ticket office before the gangway. The operator says the booking voucher must be validated there, and its ticket office opens at 10:00. Civitatis asks for the voucher printed and for you to be there 15 minutes early.

What goes wrong here is timing. If the departure you chose has sold out, the listing says you are moved to the next one, and boats are an hour apart. Do not plan anything tight straight afterwards.

2Tourist Pier at San Telmo Bridge: two companies, one quay

About 250 metres south of the Torre del Oro, where the San Telmo Bridge meets Paseo de las Delicias, is the Muelle de Turismo. Two of the boats on this page leave from it, run by different companies.

The guided small-boat tour belongs to Navega en Sevilla. Its address is Puente de San Telmo 7 and the operator says to look for a white and orange flag. Check-in is 10 minutes before departure according to the operator, 15 according to Civitatis, and the boat does not wait for latecomers.

The solar boat belongs to Guadaluxe, which asks you to be at its pier 15 minutes ahead. Your voucher works on one company's boat only, so read the name before you join a queue.

3New York pier: the boat with aperitif or meal

The Muelle de Nueva York is next to the Los Remedios Bridge, close to 500 metres south of the San Telmo Bridge and about 700 metres from the Torre del Oro. Allow for that walk if you are coming from the cathedral area.

Be there 10 minutes early. The listing asks for punctuality and bans stiletto heels on board.

4Guadaluxe office: the private boat

The private boat tour does not start on the quay. The meeting point is the Guadaluxe office in the shopping arcade on Avenida Paseo de Cristina, next to a DIA supermarket, 15 minutes before your slot. By the coordinates it is under 200 metres from the Torre del Oro.

From there staff walk you to the boat. The listing says that is at the New York pier; Guadaluxe's own page gives the Tourist Pier as its meeting point. Go to the office and let them lead.

5The usual mistake

People assume every Seville cruise leaves from the Torre del Oro because that is the landmark in all the photos. Only one does. If your voucher says San Telmo or New York and you are standing under the tower five minutes before departure, you are at the wrong pier and facing a brisk walk south along the river.

Quick questions

Where do river cruises leave from in Seville?

From three quays on the old-town bank: the pier at the Torre del Oro, the Tourist Pier beside the San Telmo Bridge, and the New York pier next to the Los Remedios Bridge.

How early should I arrive for a Seville river cruise?

The listings ask for 15 minutes at the Torre del Oro, at the San Telmo piers and at the Guadaluxe office, and 10 minutes at the New York pier.

Do I need to print my ticket for the Torre del Oro cruise?

Civitatis asks for a printed voucher, shown at the ticket office on the pier. The operator says it accepts its own vouchers on a phone, so carrying both does no harm.

Which metro stop is nearest the Seville cruise piers?

None of the operators names one on its cruise page. Use the map link in your booking confirmation to plan the route.
