Lobos Island: catamaran with lunch or just the ferry

The cruises compared here

There are three ways to spend more than the basic crossing: the plain ferry, the ferry with snorkel equipment and the catamaran. The price steps are € 17, € 27 and € 75.

The extra € 48 between the snorkel ferry and the catamaran buys food, drinks, a guide and more equipment. Whether that is worth it depends on how you like to travel, so here is what the listings say.

1What each price buys

The plain ferry from € 17 is the return crossing plus the handling of the island entry authorisation. The ferry with snorkel from € 27 adds snorkel equipment.

The catamaran from € 75 includes transport, a guide, lunch, an open bar, snorkel, kayak and paddle surf equipment and the handling of the entry permit. The ferry listings mention no food, drinks, kayak or paddle surf.

2How the day runs

On the ferry you are free on the island: you go to the Naviera Nortour sales point in the port, 20 minutes early, and the boarding card shows your return time. On the snorkel version, the listing says the snorkel activity starts at 13:20 if the ferry leaves at 10:00 or 11:15.

The catamaran is a four-hour outing. You meet 30 minutes before at the Fuertecharter office at Calle Galicia 30 in Corralejo.

3Language, reviews and cancellation

The English catamaran listing shows guide languages as Spanish, French, English and Italian. Check the language of the slot you book: the Portuguese-language listing shows Spanish only.

Scores are 9.4 from 535 reviews for the catamaran, 9.1 from 4,552 for the ferry and 8.9 from 2,077 for the snorkel version. All three cancel free up to 24 hours before.
